Aaron Melander

I just started a new gig at Target. There are so many talented people here - somewhere around 50 designers and art directors. Aaron is my new office neighbor. I've always admired his work since he first started at bamboo design. This morning he posted his work online for the fist time ever. And it's pretty bad ass. Check it out at http://cargocollective.com/aaronmelander

P.S. - If you try to poach/cherry pick him, I'll hunt you down.

Artenbru

Sorry this is so last minute, I'm on vacation this week and haven't spent much time in front of a computer. But listen up because this is soon - THIS FRIDAY! ARTENBRU! Here are the details:

We challenged twenty brave local amateur brewers and designers to collaborate, as pairs, to create limited-edition sets of beer and poster design for you to sample and enjoy at this first-of-its-kind event.

BONUS POINTS: Custom pint glass and event booklet included with admission.

+ Friday, November 19 - 7:00 p.m. - Late
Black Dog Cafe, Lowertown
308 Prince Street, St. Paul

+ DJ Double Trouble (of Clubhouse Jager fame) hit the stage for an all-vinyl set at 9:00 p.m.

+ $7 at the door. Cash only.
Get there early for your best chance at sampling all homebrews. Or get there late, for the DJ Double Trouble set and go for the cheap local pints. Your choice, friend.

+ $2 Surly Furious & Fulton Lonely Blonde pints all night.

+ $3 raffle for groovy prizes: Ale Jail Gift Certificates, 612Brew Mugs & T-shirts, Northern Brewer Gift Certificates, and more.

+ Posters from each BRUmaster team available for sale.

+ What to expect beer-wise: Fresh, original beers from some of the best amateur brewers in the Twin Cities—and nation. From confident, hoppy British IPAs to bright, sweet Belgian Cherry Wits, there’s something for everyone.

+ What to expect design-wise: Some of the best designers and printers in town have been working hard to bring you limited-run prints and art inspired by what their brewing partner is bringing to the table.

The Question Was Asked, and 119 of You Responded

According to popular belief this is the final tally of which agencies will bring home the most pins at the Show this Friday. Mono taking the lead followed by Olson then BBDO Minneapolis. I suppose we'll see what really happens tomorrow, but I'd put my money on Olson or Fallon. My prediction is Fallon for best of show (since they won the last two years, seems like a good bet) and Olson for quantity of pins based of the size of their agency and how much work they pump out. What do you guys think?

Mono for MSNBC

This is great. I talked to one of the designers on this project, and they said that they traveled around the country in a week and a half to shoot it. It's a really great way to bring the type to life.

BBDO Minneapolis 80th Year Anniversary Posters

I'm excited to be getting these bad boys printed this week at Lovely. They'll be on a 160lb french black stock. The gray is a dark mix of silver. They'll be tasty. I'll post some up pics next week when I get em.
(And fyi, the party is an internal and alumni deal.)
My buddy Eric Hansen killed the copy!
